REGISTRATION

The on-line registration system is now disabled.  You may "walk-up" register in person at the hotel on Sunday afternoon (starting at 1:00 pm), or on Monday (starting at 7:00 am).  The fee for a walk-up registration is US$450 for IEEE members, and US$500 for non-members.  Credit cards, bank checks, or personal/company checks accepted (no cash please).

NOTE: It is our policy that everyone within the meeting area, even briefly, must be properly registered and must wear a name badge.  We will strongly enforce this policy at the meeting.

Start the day with a river cruise of Amelia Island, voted third Best Island in the United States by Conde Nast Traveler. Enjoy seeing Fernandina’s shrimp boats, historic Old Towne and Ft. Clinch, as well as the wild horses of Cumberland Island. Historians will share colorful stories that define the character of this unique part of the world.

After the cruise, lunch is served right at the dock at Brett’s Waterway Café, followed by a visit to Clay Times Art Center with time to stroll and shop. The center is a 5,000 square foot “art studio” with a variety of artists who work out of the studio and often share stories and artist tips with visitors.

Begin the day with a narrated trolley ride around St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city. Tour guides will showcase the city’s highlights and history before dropping guests off at the Lightner Museum.  Housed in the former Alcazar Hotel built in 1888 by Henry Flagler, the Lightner Museum is home to one of the best collections of fine and decorative 19th century art in the country. After the tour, spend additional time exploring exhibits on your own before getting back on the trolley.

The oldest masonry fort in the continental United States, Castillo de San Marcos is a large Spanish stone fortress built to protect and defend Spain’s claims in the New World. It’s also one of the main attractions visitors to St. Augustine come to see. Explore this National Monument on your own before heading to lunch via trolley at St. George Street’s historic Columbia Restaurant, followed by time to stroll and shop before heading back to the hotel.

OCTOBER 17: EVENING AT THE CUMMER MUSEUM

Located on the banks of the St. Johns River in the historic Riverside section of Jacksonville, the Cummer Museum is home to more than 5,000 works of art, spanning from 2100 B.C. through the 21st century. Thought-provoking exhibitions, some of the most important and delightful gardens in Northeast Florida - including a breathtaking sculpture garden - and several special collections enhance the Museum’s artistic offerings.

Enjoy an evening exploring the museum’s permanent collections and upper gardens, featuring lush plantings, reflecting pools, fountains, arbors, antique ornaments and sculptures.  Appetizers and beverages will be served in the Uible Loggia, followed by dinner in the Terry Gallery, overlooking the gardens.
